International migrants day

21 December 2024

On the occasion of International migrants day, JRS organized a series of activities across our centers and services, creating unforgettable moments of togetherness and joy. At TRC Borići, we held an exhibition where our beneficiaries and partners shared art, while students from the local Richmond Park school participated in workshops focused on connection and joy. At TRC Lipa, the joint celebration included creative, competitive, and social activities, such as the creation of a wish table in collaboration with IOM, traditional dances, and karaoke, while our beneficiaries and partners from various organizations enjoyed the interpretation of the Bosnian “kolo” dance and musical performances from Morocco.

At TRC Ušivak, while sharing muffins made by minors and symbolic Dutch-style gifts in the shape of chocolate letters, everyone enjoyed traditional music, dance, and karaoke performances, with all partners united in organizing this joyful event. At TRC Blažuj, we gathered for a creative workshop where we collectively left handprints on a canvas, symbolizing unity and diversity, while everyone enjoyed pancakes, fruit, and juices, creating space for conversation and shared laughter.

In Sarajevo, an auction exhibition of works by beneficiaries from the JRS Reception center for minor asylum seekers and vulnerable groups of children and youth from the Pazarić Institute, as well as selfless artists who supported this humanitarian initiative, was held. With the presence of the Swiss Ambassador to BiH, the Mayor of Sarajevo, and our dear partners: Caritas Switzerland, Caritas Bosnia and Herzegovina, Caritas Italy, GIZ, IPSIA, the Ministry of Security, the Sarajevo Canton Social Work Center, the Educos Foundation, and many artists, we shared messages of humanity, solidarity, and creativity, raising awareness about important issues that unite us.

Thank you to everyone who supported this special day, as you became an integral part of building a fairer world where every voice is heard.
